About Ian Seddon

Ian Seddon is an ex professional footballer who made his debut at 18 years of age for his beloved BWFC in 1969.He played throughout the "70's" with a number of football league clubs before venturing abroad for spells in Australia & Hong Kong.

Also a talented schoolboy cricketer he enjoyed many decades in the cut & thrust of the ultra competitive Bolton League & Bolton Association club cricket.

Born into a typical hard working family in the industrial north west his grandfather sustained serious injuries whilst working down a coalmine in Astley, near Leigh. He was carried home a mile on a door by colleagues due to the unavailability of the pits basic transport needs.Due to the injuries he endured he was never fit to work again.

Through Ian's links with BWFC's former players association he came to realise Tommy Banks (82) had an absorbing & powerful toddler to pensioner story to tell. Ian's embraced the opportunity of relating the words, events & experiences that result in the life story of a true Bolton Wanderers legend....the one & only Tommy Banks.
